Vibration Resistance

This test is used to evaluate the resistance of the relay to harmonic mechanical oscillations such as those that could occur in transport or during operation.

To perform this test, the test piece is placed in a clamping device mounted with a oscillation actuator and subjected to sinusoidal oscillations.

The severity of the tests is defined by:
  • the frequency range (e.g. 10 - 500 Hz.)
  • the amplitude of the oscillations (e.g. 98 m/s2 or 10 gn)
  • sensitive versions
  • the stress duration (e.g. 10 cycles)
It must be specified whether the relay should function methodically during the oscillating stress or whether it should merely survive it. In the first case, no opening of closed relay contacts or closing of open relay contacts with a duration >10 µs is allowed to occur during the test.

This test is performed according to the IEC 68-2-6, Fc test.
